A letter for Mr. Sheehy

May 28th, 2008 by buzhidao

Hello Mr. Sheehy! I am glad I am in your class; your class is a litter bit harder to pass than my other English classes. I had three English classes before, but they did not read too many books. Most time I did in the English classes were grammar, making sentences, and speech, so I tried to search for a harder class for my senior year. I glad I am in your class, because I can challenge myself.

I had an English teacher she just help the student for the other country before, but I test out and you may knew I had a really bad grade in your class at the first semester. I knew it is really tough for me without her. I finally handle my classes after months.

You are a good teacher Mr. Sheehy. Summer holiday is coming; I need to go back to my country for a vocation. I wish you have a nice summer holiday.

Is Lennie somehow less human?—like wolves: George is the alpha male, and Lennie obeys.

Lennie is like wolves, I may say Lennie is like a dog to George. Lennie like and want to do what George told him, he is stronger than George, but why he has to listen to George. He may not be less human when he is talking with the other people, but to be in front of George, he seems like that.

The boss was nice, but George’s answers had made the boss to keep the eye on them. No boss want to hire the employes without many informations.

George was much smarter than Lennie. The old man tried to listen what George and Lennie were talking about, after the boss just left. I was thinking the old man could be an “ear” of the boss.
I don’t really believe she came to looking for Curley. She seemed like to take a look of the new employes. I believe the following story was going to talking the events between Lennie, George, and Curley, which because of her.

of mice and men CH.1

  • “The first man was small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features. Every part of him was defined: small, strong hands, slender arms, a thin and bony nose. Behind him walked his opposite, a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws. His arms did not swing at his sides, but hung loosely” (2).
  •           The two men are huge different. One is small and quick. The other one is large, pale eyes, and walked hevily. they are kind opposite from each other. From this I think there relationship is helper which means they are going to help each other and to look after each other.

  • “I’d pet ‘em, and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead – because they was so little” (10).
  •          He just pinched their heads a little bit; and they were dead. what a strong man he was. Could not he control himself? Anyway why did he like mice very much.

  • “Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. . . . With us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us. . . . because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that’s why” (14).
  •       what kind future did we plan for? if looking after each other was the reason why they were different with the loneliest guys in the world. How was Lennie going to look after George with his “stupid brain” and bad memory.

  • “Well, look. Lennie – if you jus’ happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in the brush” (15).
  •       what kind trouble Lennie always done before. I think the troubles should be really serious. if not, why they needed to run, to hide and to look for the other jobs in the other place? The troubles may related with his accustoms which are interesting on mice and having a bad memory.
